Healthcare Manual Handling
This course is designed for everyone involved in the delivery of manual handling tasks in the health and aged care industry that need to complete a Work Health and Safety Risk Assessment.
This program defines what manual handling is and goes through the steps involved in completing a risk assessment of manual handling tasks in a health or aged care environment.
The course classifies manual handling risks into five key areas – risks associated with the client, the workers, the working environment, the equipment used and the actual tasks performed. Each risk area is examined in detail with examples provided.
The program specifies that due to the unique characteristics of individual clients and the environment they are in, that manual handling risk assessments must be conducted on an individual basis.
Emphasis is also placed on the importance of the consultation process and the need to develop a risk control plan. Basic administrative and engineering risk control measures complete the program.
The program is followed by a quiz which requires a pass mark of 80% to be considered competent.
A certificate is available to print off on satisfactory completion of the course and the quiz.
